Considered an Azorean Catholic identity, the practices consist of iconography, architecture, and communal celebrations that have been kept alive in many communities of the Archipelago as well as the broader Portuguese diaspora

Significance

Pico's landscape gives the unique conditions for vines to grow and mature in the black volcanic soil and breathtaking basalt currais (walled squares) which defines the lived experience of every islander, in addition to its being a UNESCO world heritage
